  1. the reason why i chose this book was because I am a person that's into scary and mystery books and i'm still reading it but so far the book is really good.My favorite character is Eel,because he is very adventuress and likes to figure out stuff. Right now i'm at the part in the book where Eel goes to a school.

  2. The reason I chose this book was because it looked like a dark sort of story. I have only read 3 or 4 chapters and I already like it a lot. It shows what it is like to be a kid in old London.

  3. I like this book because of its intensity. The way that the author describes the victims of the Blue Death is very haunting. Right now, the faithful Dr. Snow is coming to save a mother and her child who are both infected. I also like the action and adventure. I wonder who the skeleton on the front of the book is.

  4. The chapter i read last night was interesting, but the chapter could of been more thrilling or more exciting so that it would stand out to me more because that's what i like in a book something thrilling, something mysterious and exciting. Hopefully the next chapter will have those things i'm looking for.

  5. In the beginning of the book Eel is mudlarking at the shore of the Thames River. Mudlarking is when a child try's to find coal copper and other things at the shore of a river. I have noticed that Eel lives way back in the old days. This book is also informational because it provides information about old London.

  6. Dr. Snow has a new theory about the blue death, which could save everyone. He thinks that the blue death is caused from drinking bad water. He says that there is one main source of bad water that is infecting all of the pumps that people drink from. I think that the one main water source is the Thames River because of all the pollution and litter.

  7. Eel has Florrie Baker, his best friend, help him make a map of the city of London so they can get around the city and interview people about their drinking water. They believe that the water pump on Broad Street is infected with the Blue Death. I still think that the infection is from the Thames River.

  8. Dr.snow has asked Eel if he has any clue about the blue death that has been spreading around London, but all they know is that Mr.Griggs was the first person to die of the blue death. I hope they find a cure soon.

  9. Dr. Snow's colleague Dr. Farr has made Eel create a list of all the people struck down by the Blue Death. Through that they will try to determine a pattern in the simultaneous deaths. Yet still Dr. Farr does not believe in Dr. Snow's Theory. The fate of London lies in Dr. Snow's hands. The Blue Death has risen.

  10. Eel and Dr.snow are getting more suspicious about the blue death, but they think that it has something to do with the water source in London. Dr.snow and Eel are asking people in London if they have drank and of the water or if they know anything about the blue death.

  11. Dr. Snow and Eel have found a way to find proof of the water theory that is presentable to the Committee. If they find a person from a different part of London that has both been struck down and has drank from the Broad street pump they could prove their theory. Eel may have found what they need. In the beautiful town of Hampstead a woman called Widow Eley and her niece have been struck down. After going undercover and asking the maid questions Eel found out they both prefer water from the Broad street pump. It may be just what they need. In the next few days history could be made. London could end. The Blue Death must be stopped.

  12. As Eel walks back from Hampstead in triumph the tables turn completely. He is kidnapped by his evil stepfather Fisheye Bill who has come out of nowhere. When he is brought unconcious to Fisheye's house he discovers their plot. They want to use him to find his brother who they will raise to be a pickpocket and beggar. Now Eel may never get found. The Blue Death may never be stopped.

  13. Miraculously Eel has escaped from Fisheye's grasp. Eel finds out that Nasty Ned works for Fisheye when he walks into the room where Fisheye threatens to kill Eel. Ned gets so scared for Eel that he runs to tell Thumbless Jake. When Fisheye leaves for the pub, Jake sneaks in and takes Eel away from the ghastly place. Luck was on his side that time, and he will need it again.

  14. Eel has reached the meeting just in time. When he arrives he tells them about his case with Widow Eley. It appears to be proof enough to the Commitee, and so as scheduled the Broad Street pump handle is removed. Deaths begins to lessen and things start to go back to normal, but it is still far from over because they still have one more task to complete. They need to solve the mystery of how it started to prevent its return.

  15. Finally the mystery has been solved. As it turns out the first victim left her waste in the sewer next to the infected pump. The wall that separated the sewer and the pump was somehow severed causing The Blue Death. How the first victim got the disease may never be known, but it does not matter because The Blue Death has been stopped.

  16. Eel is both loyal and responsible. What is the difference between the two traits?

  17. Why do Eel’s neighbors initially put their faith in Reverend Whitehead instead of Dr.
    Snow?

    1. Everyone in that area has basically grown up hearing the theory that cholera is caused by bad air. They don't want to change their opinions on such short notice, or even really think about the problem from a different point of view.

  18. Who is your favorite villain in this story? What motivates each of them to treat Eel
    badly?

  19. What does Eel reveal when he is hired to help Charlie the coffin man in Chapter 11?

  20. So far I am on chapter 3. Eel has boasted to his friends about his job working for Dr. Snow and how Dr. Snow has developed a new way of relieving pain. By putting a person or animal to sleep for a limited amount of time, it reduces their pain during a surgery or a medical procedure (so basically a pretty standard way of reducing pain in modern times). Dr. Snow has even used this treatment on Queen Victoria herself when she was giving birth to Prince Leopold! I think Eel may have a bit of a crush on his best friend Florrie.

  21. Hugzie is trying to get Eel kicked out of the Lion by framing him for skimming pennies off of Mr. Cooper's pay. Since Eel works three jobs he has extra money and Hugzie is using this against Eel as evidence for the crime he didn't commit.
