Doll Bones is an interesting book if you like an odd ghost story. It was a little scary. I liked the character Zach who was really involved in the story. Another character, The Queen is made out of human bones and human hair and contains human ashes.
Doll Bones creeped me out a lot, but I couldn't put it down. It was just so suspenseful, and had such a great story line that it made me want to read more. If you're into books that are mildly scary but truly creepy (believe me they are two totally different things) then Doll Bones is just the book for you.
Tonight I didn't really like the part I read. But I couldn't put the book down because it's so interesting and I needed to find out what happened next. Zach, Alice and Poppy get into a fight about playing dolls and why Zach can't.
Today at SSR I got really creeped out. Alice and Poppy take Zach to the junk yard and they bring the queen with them. But this time it was different because the queen's eyes were opened all the way. The girls told Zach about the queens story. I would tell you more but I would give too much away.
Tonight in my book Alice, Poppy and Zach run away at night to bury the queen in her grave. When the kids get on the bus they meet a man. He automatically starts to insult Poppy. Even though they go through so much they never make it to their destination. (West Liverpool)
Poppy, Zach, and Alice get off the bus and they don't know where they are. But they soon find out that they're closer to west Liverpool than they thought. Alice wants to go home. So she pulls out her emergency cell phone. But Zach and Poppy wont let Alice call. They also run away from the cops and police station. They end up sleeping in an alley.
Alice And Zach are nervous about sleeping outside because they don't have a lot of experience outside. Everybody gets out what they brought and they try to evaluate the situation. That night Poppy had the first watch. The queen was on her lap the whole time. Zach did not like it at all
Zach has a weird dream about Eleanor. He visions her father in the factory making her into the doll/queen. When Poppy awakes Zach for him to take the next watch he screams because of his dream. From then on he is always cautious of the doll in Poppy's backpack.
Zach wakes Alice up with a shake. Alice says "five more minutes." Zach tells her it was urgent. Zach says "do you believe in ghosts?" Alice is still pretty much asleep. I think Alice, Zach and Poppy will eventually bury the queen. And Zach will stop being afraid of the queen.
Poppy, Alice and Zach wake up and they are hungry. They decide to go to the donut shop. They have the weirdest flavors at this donut shop. Like fruit loops. And others I can't remember. The owner is very nice. Poppy sits the queen in a chair and the owner gives her a donut on the house. He was playing along. The flavor was pepto.
Zach has the vision again. He imagines the queen's father making her into a doll/queen. Poppy, Alice and Zach start traveling again. But they still never find their destination. They will have to hurry up or the queen will get angry. She will do bad things. Bad things.
I have enjoyed this book. The way it is scary but not scary at the same time. I do wish that when Alice had the chance to call home she would have. I just wonder what would have happened in the book if she did. I bet if the book would have changed by Alice calling home Zach and Poopy would have snuck out again without Alice
I think the scariest part was when Zack jumped into the freezing cold river water to save the doll. I could feel the cold rushing water and the chaos of the situation. It was very intense.
I think the scariest part was either when they found out what the Queen was made out of, the part where they found out how she died, or the part when the Queen tore apart their campsite.

I did a little research. It was very common for China dolls to be make from real bones. I am pretty sure that the bones and hair where mostly from animals. If there are dolls made from humans - that is not yet documented!
When I picked up the book I was not sure in my choice, but then when it mentioned 'the Queen' doll and how it was like haunted or something because it was made out of some type of bone I got interested. I wonder why the doll is on the cover. Just sitting there, wet.
So I think that 'Elenor' sitting wet on the cover because she fell out of the boat. I started to read for my half hour a few days ago and it got really interesting, because they broke into a library. I really wanted to find out what happened. Then when I found out that they got caught I did not stop. so i'm like 20 pages away form the end I hope that other people get into the book as much as I did.
I am on the chapter where Poppy walked out suspiciously and it got me wondering why she did that. My favorite character is probably either Poppy or Alice.
What I read over the weekend is when Poppy, Alice and Zach are walking past a graveyard, and Poppy got scared and wanted to go home. That is where I stopped. I really want to read more because I am so hooked, and I cant wait.
Zach's dad threw away all of Zach's toys including William that he plays with all the time. His dad got really mad because he did not know that Zach liked those toys still, and Zach does not want to tell Poppy and Alice that his toys got thrown away, so he lied and said that he does not want to play that game anymore. Poppy and Alice are confused and also a little mad. I cant wait to see what happens next.
Over the weekend I read Doll Bones. I just got to chapter five, but let's go to the end of chapter four. Poppy and Alice passed a note to Zach that said, "Something happened with the Queen. Go to the hermit's place by the Silver Hill's after school. It's important." (important was underlined.) Zach did not go. I got to the sixth page of chapter five, but I will tell you what I read. Zack woke up in the darkness of his room, and The Party was curled up next to Zach. (The Party is his cat's name.) Then he heard a tap on his window. He was thinking it was just a tree branch, but then he heard it again, twice. He was still thinking it was the tree branch, then it happened one more time, the last time. So he went to look out his window to see what it it was. It was........ Poppy and Alice throwing pebbles at his window. I got really freaked out because I thought it was the Queen banging on the window until the author told me it was Poppy and Alice. That is what I read this weekend. I cant wait to see what happens next.
Poppy and Alice woke up in the middle of the night and went and got Zack. Zack asked a lot of things. He was wondering why he was woken up and where they were going. They were going to the Silver Hills to look at this glass doll with its eyes open looking at all of them. Poppy said that there's a lie (they think) (they hope) that in the middle of the night when nobody was watching.
Poppy ans Alice talked Zach into going to Ohio with them to bury the Queen. Zach said yes. In the morning they are going to get on the bus to Ohio by themselves, bury the doll and hen they are hoping to get home before dinner. What really surprised me was that their parent were okay with them going to Ohio. I wonder if the doll will move while Poppy, Alice and Zach are sleeping so that they can't find the Queen.
Poppy and her crew are going to bury the doll. but they must get back before there parents get suspicious. They head out on there journey to hid the doll and get rid of it. Then after they bury it they will come home.
The crew was going out to bury the doll, all of the crew were really scared because they were already getting haunted by the doll, so if they were to bury it the doll would get more mad and haunt them more.
Poppy, Zach and Alice met some weird guy on the bus, and he was saying weird stuff like the bus driver was an alien. So, they all got off the bus, and they dont have a map or anything, so they were not prepared. They are just walking around alone and not knowing where they are going. I really want to see if Zach, Poppy and Alice get to East Liverpool and back before dinner like they planned.
Poppy and her friends are on the bus and there's this guy who is looking at them weirdly and the girls went back on the bus but Zack went to a vending machine to get something but this guy came over to him. Zack yelled girls and they all ran away from there. Once they were far the tried to find the closest but spot to get back on the bus.

When I was reading Doll Bones it kind of gave me the creeps because I read a creepy part. I can not wait to read the rest.
