  2. This book seems like that her mom just treats her like that she's one of her employs? It kind of reminds of child abuse what about you?

  3. Today I read that Flora was trying to convince her mom that she wanted to keep Ullesses but she said that she let pets in the house and that it would distracked her from her work. I think that her mom doesn't like her how about you?

  4. I agree this is an example of Bad Mom behavior. But I also think the author is kind of making fun of the mom. Kate DiCamillo has written a lot of books, so she much spend a lot of time writing. Do you think she might be kind of even making fun of herself?

  5. This book is absolutely hilarious! I think the fact that Flora is a natural-born cynic plays into the piece that anyone could be an enemy of Ulysses the squirrel. I also think the fact that Ulysses is always hungry helps make all their adventures exciting.

  6. I wonder if Ulysses will ever get to have a donut with sprinkles or a sunny-side-up egg?

    1. Holy Bagumba indeed! I have to say, I couldn't agree more. This a great heart felt book. The chemistry between all of the characters in this book is great. I love the ending, totally awesome! I keep re-reading this book again and again.

  8. I think that Kate DiCmaillo is playing around with the mom because that is what could possibly keep the story running.

  10. Flora and Ulysess is very intresting and I recommend it for all. Flora and Ulysess are spending a lot of qulitty time together. Flora is not very a preshetive of her mom and the mom is not very fond of Flora not doing her work.

  12. Why do you think Flora’s mother makes her sign “the contract”?

    1. I think Fora's mom wanted her to stop reading Incandesto and wanted her to read something like what she wrights. Maybe like one of her love novels.

    2. It seems like her mom wants her to be more serious. Why do you think?
Have you read any other Kate DiCamillo books?

    3. I think that her mom makes flora sign the contract because the mom is lazy and just dosen't want to work. I also think that the mom dosen't love her like she loves Mary ann.

  13. Why does Flora feel as if her mother loves Mary Ann the lamp more than she loves her?

    1. I think that Flora's mother is a bit too protective of the lamp, but not as protective of Flora, aside from not letting her go near Ulysses.

  14. Ulysses fighting crime, criminals, villainy, darkness, treachery; she had imagined him flying (holy bagumba!) through the world with her (Flora Buckman!) at his side. Instead, here she was leading a temporarily blind boy through her own backyard. It was anticlimactic, to say the least. - Kate DiCamillo
I just love her writing, don't you? I really like a lot of her books!

  15. Holy bagumba a squirrel can type, let alone type poetry!?! A blind boy, a great aunt, a natural born cynic, and super hero squirrel, what is going to happen next? Will Ulysses fight his arch-nemesis (according to Flora) William Spiver, or will he find a new nemesis no one knows. Dun, dun, duuuuunnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Ulysses may have found his real nemesis, and it's not William Spiver. It's none other than....... Flora's mother!!! What will happen next in Flora and Ulysses duh, duh, duuuhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. I love how Kate DiCamillo let's you know what characters are thinking, especially with Flora who is such an interesting character. For instance, "She was standing at the door, smiling and waving good-bye to them as if she weren't truly a murder-planning arch-nemesis." I just love Kate's sense of humor and the way she put's it in her books.
